What is your name, and what condition-specific team do you work on?
My name is Christina, and I work on one of the Cardio-Metabolic teams.
I’ve been a Health Advisor for seven years. Before becoming a Health Educator and Advisor, I was a first responder. My roots in healthcare started much earlier, where I spent several years working in the Home Health Care and Rehabilitation field. I am a Health Educator and Emergency Medical Services Technician by degree.
Why do you work at Pack Health? What’s your favorite part of your job? Where do you get your inspiration?
I came to Pack Health after already spending several years as a Health Advisor for an insurance company. From the moment I learned about Pack Health, their mission, and vision, and met with a Pack Health recruiter, I knew that this was the home for me!
The best part of my job would definitely be building bonds with our members and helping them find ways to enrich their lives.
My inspiration comes from within. Living by these wise words: “If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.”
What’s your favorite healthy food, and why?
I have many favorite healthy foods and dishes, but my absolute favorites are green beans and snap peas! There is nothing better than roasted garlic and parmesan snap peas or green beans.
What’s your favorite way to stay active and why?
Many people believe that staying active means hitting the gym seven days per week. While that would be awesome, for most people it just isn’t feasible. My favorite way to stay active is by taking family walks or jogs at least 2-3 times per week. It can be a quick walk around our neighborhood or a planned fitness day at our local park. I get quality time with my family, and we get to do something fun and active together.
How else do you practice self-care?
Self-care for me is a long shower or warm bubble bath with Epsom salt while listening to my favorite tunes. Toss in the occasional visit to Ulta Beauty for a brow wax, too.
What advice do you have for someone just joining the program?
My advice for someone just joining the program would be to “just stick with it and be open with your Health Advisor.” Some members feel like they have to be perfect or always have good news to report back and that’s just not true. If we all could do everything perfectly when it comes to our health, there would be no reason for most doctors and definitely not Health Advisors. We’re all human, and no one is perfect! Be open and honest with your Health Advisor about things that you’re going through and what’s affecting you. After all, we’re here to help!
