To help you dig through some of those major websites, it’s always a great idea to use a browser extension like Honey. This add-on will dig through the deals on a specific website and pull them out in a small window for you to scroll through. Never miss out on savings again! 04 Tactical Shopper 101

The best way to know if you’ve found a great deal is if you can compare the price to what it was before sales begin. Also, keep in mind that even though the item might be on-sale, not every retailer or website will offer free shipping.  Make sure to double check the cost of shipping before you finish checking out, and factor that in when you’re comparing costs from one site to another.

  • Did you initially subscribe to receive the offer? If not, this is a red flag.
  • Does the subject line seem out of character considering the sender and does the text inside the email contain spelling or grammatical errors?
  • Is there a file attached to the online offer? If so, delete the email immediately! Genuine sales events and offers are generally informational and have no reason to include attachments. Always check hidden links if you are urged to unlock an exciting offer, view your account, etc. by clicking a hyperlink. To do this,
Scroll your mouse (without clicking) over the hyperlink to reveal its real address if you see something strange or unexpected (think a lot of random numbers, letters, a strange domain you’ve never heard of, etc.), delete the email right away.

05 Have a Blast!

The greatest advantage of online shopping is that you don’t have to wait in line, you don’t need to dig a door-buster bin to find deals, and you can shop while drinking your favorite tea or coffee and spending time with loved ones. At the end of the day, what matters is your personal joy and happiness. If Cyber Monday is stressing you out, it may be helpful to scale back.

PROTIP:  Try setting goals for what you want to get, how much you’re willing to pay, and how much time you want to spend online today. These guidelines will help you stay on track and make the most of Cyber Monday deals!

Happy Shopping!
