How’d you hear about Pack Health and what made you want to sign up?
I heard about Pack Health through my doctor and I actually didn’t realize I had enrolled myself, but when I finished that first call with Jamaal I knew it was going to be great!
We’re so happy to have you! How has your experience been so far? How’s it been with Jamaal?
Jamaal is great and my experience has been amazing. Jamaal encourages me to think deeper than I have before, when it comes to how I’m fueling my body. He gives me so much encouragement and I look forward to our calls every week. The main goal I’ve set while working with Jamaal is to lose weight and overall adopt a more healthy lifestyle. For instance, my doctor told me to avoid drinking my calories or waisting them on unhealthy snacks. Jamaal helped me think this through and apply it to my everyday routine. He really has great energy and whoever gets him as a Health Advisor is so lucky!
How has Pack Health helped you change your lifestyle and what keeps you motivated to change?
I watched my portion sizes and changed my calorie intake. I also don’t eat after 8:30 pm. The biggest thing for me is portion control. I have a partner now with Jamaal and knowing I had to talk to him and tell him what I ate that week, I didn’t want to have to tell him I ate potato chips on Monday so it helped hold me accountable. He encouraged me to try fruit in the mornings because I didn’t eat much fruit to begin with. I will still eat things like popcorn but I will portion it out so I don’t overeat. I don’t have a lot of time to exercise so we set a Tiny Step and work out one time per week, and we built up from there. I go to the gym mainly and use the machines, but depending on the weather I will go for a walk outside.
What advice would you give to someone looking to sign up for one of our programs?
I would encourage them to sign up because accountability is huge when talking about a lifestyle change. It helps you to be honest with yourself and keeps you on track.
What’s been the biggest thing you’ve accomplished while working with Jamaal?
My calorie count and portion control. I don’t know why I didn’t understand those concepts before, but one day it just clicked. I have tried every diet out there and they didn’t work. Before, I was stuffing myself because I’m greedy. I had to adjust my eyes, my eyes were bigger than my stomach. But since I started watching my portions, I haven’t been uncomfortably full.
What have you learned about yourself?
I have learned that I can do this. I have learned that I have control over my eating, which has been really hard for me. I can mindfully eat instead of mindlessly eat. I was overeating for 30+ years. I now view food as medicine and fuel.
